The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a minor league deal with free-agent reliever Guillermo Mota and invited him to spring training.
An 11-year big league veteran, the 36-year-old Mota went 3-4 with a 3.44 ERA in 61 appearances last season with the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.
The right-hander owns a career record of 36-39 with a 3.89 ERA for the Montreal Expos, Dodgers, Florida Marlins, Cleveland Indians, New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers.
The Giants announced the deal on Tuesday.
Easily one of my most hated Mets of all time. I had to include him in here just to bash him. From the time in Spring Training (as a Dodger) where he pegged Piazza twice. To Willie leaving him in an inning too long against the Dodgers in the '06 NLDS. To him shaking off LoDuca 10 times in the '06 NLCS and then throwing Spiezio a garbage change up, which he drilled off the right field wall. To his mastering of how to blow a game everyday he pitched but in a different way each time. Good luck with this head case Giants.
Added by Tom Pich I detest Mota as well. Guy was never the same after he quit roids.
